Temperature Blanket - Finished!

I'm very proud of myself for persevering for a whole year to crochet a row for each and every day and complete my Temperature Blanket.

We've always been aware of temperatures particularly since we retired and moved close to the coast but doing this project made me become somewhat obsessed!  When the temperatures were constant, I wanted it to change so I could change colour; when I used a new colour for the firs time, I became excited; and towards the end my focus was more on would I have enough yard left and please would the temperature change so I could use a colour I had plenty of.   This was actually a problem but luckily my daughter had the right colour in her stash so I didn't have to buy a new ball for 2 or 3 rows.

I'm even proud of myself because I actually did three rows on the border!

I'm not sure I would do a year long project again unless it was smaller, but never say never!

The blanket is destined for our caravan so there is something large and warm to snuggle up in on colder mornings and evenings.

Temperature Blanket - September update

This is a bit later for September but I ran out of the yarn I needed and it took a while to get to a new supply.  Thankfully I have now caught up, finished September and go up to date with October.

WIPs? What WIPs?

Following on from my last post, I am pleased to say that I stuck to my plans to do a bit of each of my Works in Progress each day resulting in three finished crochet projects!

I'm really pleased with the Maid of Honour Shawl because of the way the colours have blended together.   I did have to fiddle a bit at the end as I wanted to make sure I got to the solid colour for the edge and I didn't want to chance not having enough yarn.

So pleased that I worked out how much to do each day for Hope's Blanket as it means I finished it well before her birthday later this month.

I don't want to post to much about it in case she sees it so here's a sneak preview....

My work on the Temperature Blanket has ground to a halt with seven more rows to finish September off.  I have run out of wool in the required colour so as soon as I have caught up I will post the usual monthly update.

And as everything was up to date or finished I managed a couple of extras!

I finally got a chance to start on the August Little Box of Crochet but I must confess I wasn't happy with my efforts.   It was a pattern for a little crochet purse worked in two halves and then joined and sewn in to a frame.  I worked the first side and felt I was struggling so put it to one side.   Once I had time I watched some lovely help videos that went with it and found that my initial attempt was actually okay so I did the second side and finished it last night.

I think this is going to fall into the category of "nice to do but I won't be rushing to do more just yet".

A little extra in the box was some cross-stitch which I did enjoy doing - always find cross stitch calming as it satisfies the mathematical part of my brain.

So, as I've caught up I have been able to add so projects to my list!

Temperature blanket update

Another month of my temperature blanket has been completed!

I have found myself being a bit obsessive about the temperatures, particularly when I've had a run of one colour.  As you can see, this month has been a 'green' month with the odd blue (lower temperature) and yellow (higher temperature).  Fingers crossed that with May just starting there will be more yellow for next month!

Blanket update

Another month finished on my Temperature Blanket!

I was excited when I got to a yellow row late in the month, indicating that we had a temperature over 17 deg C.  Ended up with this temperature for three days on the trot which was glorious for the time of year.

As you can see, it was back to green at the end of the month.

February temperatures all done

I've finished February on my Temperature Blanket and as you can see the temperature increased enough on a few days (13 - 16 deg C) to get some green rows.

Looking ahead at the higher temperatures on my chart I'm beginning to wonder whether I will use some of the colours I've bought so will have to decide whether to adjust the bands.  Think I needed to have a discussion with my daughter as she is using the same chart.

Temperature Blanket - January Completed

Very pleased with the progress I'm making with my Temperature Blanket as I was late starting.  January is now finished and as you can see from the photo, it is very blue!  I'll be glad when the temperatures rise a bit and I can get on to some different colours.

Looking so closely at the temperatures (I'm using the highest recorded for Bournemouth each day) you get a bit obsessed and how much they change.  Also looking back on January I was surprised to see we started the month on 10 deg C although it did drop to 2 deg later in the month.  Glad to say that was when we were in 25 deg C in Gran Canaria!  Looking forward to February when some green will be appearing.

New Project

A lovely bag of wool arrived in the post today bringing me a new project!

I've been seeing temperature blankets on Pinterest for some time and following a weekend visit from my daughter Karen, who is currently crocheting one, I decided it was an ideal project to take away on our caravan breaks.  The wool was ordered Monday and thankfully a quick delivery means I won't have to wait long to get started.

I've done some homework on temperatures and where to find my local ones since the beginning of the year, so am pretty much ready to go. Just want to do some samples to decide on which stitch to use and how big to make it then I'll be off.

Watch this space for updates....
